The Flag of Cahul District was approved at the meeting of the National Heraldic Commission of the Republic of Moldova on March 19, 2004 (Minutes no.44-III) and by Decision no.04/23-I of the Cahul District Council on June 10, 2004.

The Flag of Cahul District features a rectangular fabric (2 x 3), crenellated, in red and yellow, and was designed based on the Coat of Arms of Cahul District, maintaining its significance.
