Today, the Cahul District Council held public hearings on the draft decision to approve the Cahul District budget for 2026. The event was organized in accordance with legal provisions to ensure transparency in the decision-making process and active citizen participation.

   Ms. Valentina Smeșnoi, Deputy Head of the General Finance Directorate, presented the main elements of the 2026 budget draft, including revenue forecasts, tax categories, and the planned expenditure structure for the district’s priority sectors.

   The event was attended by district leadership, district councilors, Cahul District Council staff, and representatives of civil society interested in how public resources are allocated.

   During the hearings, several proposals and observations regarding the draft were submitted. All suggestions will be reviewed by the working group, which will prepare a summary of recommendations to guide the finalization of the 2026 district budget. The draft budget will then be submitted for examination and approval at a session of the Cahul District Council.
