Today, the Cahul District Council hosted a training session for representatives of the district’s town halls, focused on the new regulations in the field of land management and their local implementation. The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, in collaboration with the Agriculture, Land Relations, Cadastre, and Public Property Directorate of the Cahul District Council, represented by its head, Mr. Vasile Raru.
During the session, experts presented the key changes introduced by the new Land Code, as well as the administrative procedures local public authorities are required to apply in managing agricultural land. Discussions addressed both the obligations of landowners and the expanded competencies of town halls in monitoring, evaluating, and taking legal action regarding neglected land.
Participants were briefed on mechanisms for temporarily leasing neglected land, conditions for its return to owners, and tools for preventing soil degradation. Solutions for digitizing land records and opportunities to improve agricultural management at the community level were also presented.
The organizers emphasized that the training aims to strengthen the capacities of local public administration to uniformly and correctly apply land legislation, benefiting communities and protecting natural resources. The event is part of a series of nationwide actions aimed at modernizing and streamlining agricultural land management processes.
